Role Responsibilities: What Will You Do?

As a Planning Intern at AECOM, you won't just be filing documents. You will be actively involved in the project lifecycle. Your work may mirror recent AECOM projects in the region, such as the CentrePort Canada transportation planning or environmental consultations for major developments. Core duties include:

• Policy & Data Analysis: You will conduct research on municipal policies and create maps using GIS to support planning decisions.
• Community Engagement: A critical part of this role involves designing materials for and participating in public and Indigenous engagement sessions.
• Report Preparation: You will help draft technical documents like Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, and site plan applications.
• Visual Storytelling: You will prepare graphics and presentations to clearly communicate complex planning solutions to clients and the public.

Eligibility and Requirements

AECOM is looking for well-rounded candidates who can combine technical skills with strong communication. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications

• Education: You must be currently enrolled in a university program (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Planning, Engineering, Humanities, or a related field.
• Experience: You must have completed at least two (2) years of study in your program.
• Future Intent: You must intend to return to school after the internship (unless you are in your final graduating semester).
• Mobility: A valid driver's license is required, along with a willingness to travel to various communities for face-to-face engagements.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (for visual storytelling).
• Experience or strong interest in GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
• Preference may be given to Master's level students.
