AVPN, the world's largest network of social investors in Asia, is hiring a Climate Finance Intern to join their team in Mumbai. This is a high-impact role suited for recent graduates or early-career professionals interested in the intersection of public policy, finance, and climate action.
Why is this unique? Unlike typical corporate internships, this role offers hands-on experience at the PMU (Project Management Unit) level. You will not just be sitting in the AVPN office; you will be required to work from the office of a Government Partner for at least 3 days a week. This provides rare exposure to how state-level climate finance programs are designed and implemented.

1. Research & Document Development
- Analysis: Analyze state-level public finance systems, climate budgets, and funding gaps.
- Drafting: Support the drafting of Terms of Reference (TORs), background briefs, policy notes, and concept notes.
- Mechanisms: Conduct deep research on climate finance mechanisms and funding models.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaison: Coordinate between state government departments, AVPN teams, consultants, and technical partners.
- Management: Support meeting preparation, manage follow-ups, and ensure timely information flow across all partners.
3. Event Support
- Mumbai Climate Week: Provide support in organizing major convenings like Mumbai Climate Week.
- Knowledge Products: Prepare post-event summaries, synthesis notes, and event briefs.
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
AVPN is looking for candidates with strong analytical minds and a demonstrated interest in finance.
1. Academic Status
- Status: Recent graduate or Final-year student.
- Fields: Finance, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Development Studies, or related fields.
2. Skills & Tools
- Core: Strong writing skills and ability to synthesize complex information are mandatory.
- Tech: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Google Workspace.
- Bonus (Preferred): Familiarity with Geospatial tools (QGIS), Modelling tools (SimaPro), or Statistical software (R, Stata) is a huge advantage.
3. Experience
- Prior internship experience in climate finance, sustainable development, or government engagement is "Good to Have."
Work Logistics & Benefits
- Duration: 6 Months.
- Location: Mumbai, India. (Note: Requires working from a government partner's office 3 days/week).
- Stipend: A competitive stipend will be offered based on your qualification and professional background.
- Mentorship: Work with climate funders, philanthropic partners, and senior sectoral experts in India’s climate ecosystem.
