Internship Overview & Key Details

Role Responsibilities: What Will You Do?

As a Legal Intern, you will support in-house attorneys with a variety of complex legal matters. Your work will directly impact the organization's ability to navigate regulations and manage contracts. Core responsibilities include:

• Litigation Support: You will assist in the preparation and litigation of cases before state/federal courts and the IURC (Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission). This includes handling discovery, filings, and case files.
• Contract Management: You will assist with reviewing, drafting, and managing contracts using software like Jaggaer.
• Legal Research: You will analyze legal questions across various areas of law to support decision-making.
• Tech Management: You will help manage legal department tools, including Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker and Westlaw.

Eligibility and Mandatory Requirements

Citizens Energy Group is looking for organized and collaborative individuals. To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications

• Education: You must be currently enrolled in Law School OR a college/university Paralegal Studies program.
• Technical Skills: Strong computer skills are essential, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
• Work Style: You must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet strict deadlines.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with employees at all levels.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with experience or interest in the following areas will stand out:

• Utility Law: Rate case management, special contract approvals.
• Transactional Law: Asset purchase agreements, leases, licenses.
