The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) is seeking multiple interns for its Communications Branch. This is a high-impact role where you will support the team responsible for coordinating global humanitarian messaging and brokering partnerships for advocacy.

Roles & Responsibilities (Choose Your Track)
Interns will work in consultation with Public Information Officers. Depending on your skills and the specific unit needs, your work will fall into one of the following areas:
1. Public Engagement & Campaigns (Social Media)
- Content Creation: Create engaging graphics, short videos, and carousels for social media based on humanitarian reports.
- Influencers: Research and manage lists of celebrities and influencers; assist in outreach for global campaigns.
- Analytics: Monitor social media trends and prepare analytics reports.
- Community Management: Monitor comments and flag risks or important conversations.
2. Branding & Design (Creative)
- Visual Design: Use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Figma to create infographics, reports, animations, and web mockups.
- Production: Contribute to projects from concept to final production for both print and digital platforms.
- Note: A portfolio (PDF or Behance link) is highly recommended for this track.
3. Media Relations
- Spokesperson Support: Support the global Spokesperson by capturing key public briefings and maintaining international media lists.
- Monitoring: Monitor traditional and social media for humanitarian news.
- Missions: Support senior official missions by preparing daily action checklists and media summaries.
4. Web Support
- Content Management: Assist in updating and maintaining the corporate website with the latest news, campaigns, and events.
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the UN Internship Programme, you must meet one of the following academic requirements:
1. Education
- Graduate Student: Be enrolled in (or have completed) a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent programme.
- Undergraduate Student: Be enrolled in (or have completed) the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.
2. Skills & Language
- English: Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Interest: A strong interest in humanitarian work and the UN system.
- Design Skills: For the design track, proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud is essential.
Financial & Visa Information
Please note the standard UN internship terms:
- Remuneration: This is an UNPAID internship.
- Expenses: All costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
- Visa: If working on-site, you may need to obtain the appropriate visa (G-4 for US, etc.). Remote interns do not need a visa.
