The Simons Foundation, one of the most prestigious private funders of basic science, is seeking Summer Research Interns for its Center for Computational Biology (CCB) in New York City.

Interns will work at the renowned Flatiron Institute, an internal research division of the foundation. This is an incredible opportunity to conduct original research alongside world-class scientists in an interdisciplinary environment. 1. Research & Collaboration

  • Original Research: Contribute to ongoing CCB research projects under the guidance of staff scientists.
  • Collaboration: Work well in an interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experimentalists to interpret data.

2. Community Engagement

  • Engage with the broader scientific community at the Flatiron Institute.
  • Actively participate in the "Summer at Simons" programming, including seminars and workshops.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

The Simons Foundation is looking for students with strong quantitative backgrounds who are capable of doing "outstanding research."

1. Academic Background

  • Status: Must be currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program.
  • Fields: Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.

2. Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated abilities in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computation.
  • Experience with Scientific Software/Algorithm Development.
  • Skills in Data Analysis, Inference, and Image Analysis.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour.
  • Housing: The foundation provides Housing for non-local interns for the duration of the summer.
  • Travel: Roundtrip travel expenses to and from New York City are reimbursed.

How to Apply

This is a highly competitive program starting in Summer 2026. If you have a background in applying math and physics to biological problems, this is one of the best internships available.
